About the event
WRI's two day seminar held during Geneva Peace Forum has invited widows and those working with and for widows to participate.
300 million widows worldwide: - Yet how many know of their circumstances, their disadvantages and their amazing resilience and contriubtion to the community. Early and forced marriage, crisis and conflicts are constantly increasing the number of widows and female headed households worldwide.
The purpose of the seminar is to raise awareness on the many difference aspects of widowhood. We will also advocate for inclusion of the word "widows" in all relevant texts of UN processes taking place in Geneva and a Special Rapporteur on Widows. By sharing with Member States, UN entities and NGOs the situation of widows around the world, we are convinced they will make efforts to support such advocacy goals.
Participants in this event will contribute to the discourse on the dire situation of human rights…
