About the event

Conflict and transition zones result in insecurity for all. Female headed households are most vulnerable. With the increase of child marriage, child widowhood is an inevitable outcome. In insecure times, girls are increasingly vulnerable to all forms of abuse including trafficking. The aim of this event is to highlight the plight of girls who are the survivors of early or forced marriage, and who are then widowed. In addition, they are vulnerable to trafficking. As CEDAW is holding a special session on Trafficking, it is an opportune time to raise awareness on this human rights issue, which certainly requires more light shone onto this.
